A little bit of history about wellies!
The humble 'Wellie' has seen a transformation over the years into the fashion item we see today. Vincent Shoe Store stock a fun range of children's wellies which will bring a smile to any child's face!
Originally designed by the first Duke of Wellington in the 18th Century and tailored to be a short version of the popular hessian boots worn at the time, the wellie only really took off as a practical form of waterproof footwear after Charles Goodyear invented the rubber vulcanisation process in the mid 1850's. This new material enabled sturdy footwear to be produced which gave day-long waterproof qualities - perfect for those working in wet and muddy conditions.
Today your child can enjoy all of the practicality of the 'wellie' but with bright colours made possible by the use of modern manufacturing techniques and materials.
